DMCA Policy
Last updated: March 19, 2026
InstDL (“we”, “our”, “us”), accessible at instdl.site, respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of our service to do the same.
In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA”) and applicable international copyright laws, we will respond expeditiously to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement.
How InstDL Works
InstDL is a technical tool that helps users access publicly available content from Instagram. We act as an intermediary — we do not host, store, or cache Instagram media files on our servers. All content accessed through InstDL is publicly available on Instagram and is fetched directly from Instagram's CDN at the time of the user's request.
Because we do not host third-party media content, most DMCA concerns regarding Instagram content should be directed to Instagram/Meta directly at Instagram's copyright reporting page.
However, if you believe that content hosted directly on InstDL — such as blog articles, images used in our own content, or other materials on our website — infringes your copyright, please follow the process below.
Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice
To submit a valid DMCA takedown notice, your notice must include all of the following information as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):
- Your identification — your full legal name and contact information (email address, phone number, and mailing address).
- Description of the copyrighted work — a description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed, or if multiple works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works.
- Location of infringing material — identification of the material claimed to be infringing and the URL on InstDL where the infringing content is located (be as specific as possible).
- Good faith statement — a statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- Accuracy statement — a statement that the information in your notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Your signature — a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:
- Acknowledge receipt of your notice within 48 hours
- Review the notice for completeness and validity
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content promptly if the notice is valid
- Notify the user who posted the content (if applicable) that the content has been removed
- Provide the user with information about filing a counter-notification
Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. A valid counter-notification must include:
- Your full name and contact information
- Identification of the content that was removed and its location before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or any judicial district if outside the US)
- Your physical or electronic signature
Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant and may restore the content within 10-14 business days unless the complainant files a court action.
Repeat Infringers
InstDL has a policy of terminating access for users who are determined to be repeat infringers. If we receive multiple valid DMCA notices against a user, we will take appropriate action including permanent suspension of access to our service.
Misuse of DMCA Process
Please be aware that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that content is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. If you are unsure whether content infringes your copyright, we recommend consulting a legal professional before submitting a notice.
